The growing presence of artificial intelligence today raises pressing questions not only in the field of technological innovation, but also in the interpretation of education, research, and cultural heritage. How can AI tools support research in the humanities? How is knowledge representation and education transformed when we work alongside algorithms? These – and many other related questions – are at the heart of the upcoming DH_Budapest_2025 Young Researchers Conference, which is now open for applications.

The event is organized by the Department of Digital Humanities at the Faculty of Humanities, Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), and will take place between 19–21 November 2025. The organizers invite applications from university students at the MA level, PhD candidates, or students enrolled in integrated teacher training programs (at least in their 4th year) who actively explore the intersection of AI and the humanities.

The conference addresses highly topical and interdisciplinary issues. The call for papers outlines four main thematic areas:

🔹 AI in Education
How can intelligent systems be integrated into learning processes? What are their potentials and limitations?

🔹 AI Tools Supporting Research
Text mining, network analysis, machine learning – the potential of AI in shaping humanities methodologies.

🔹 AI and Digital Heritage
New ways of processing and making cultural content accessible in the digital age.

🔹 Digital Cultural Studies
The interplay between digital technologies and cultural interpretations.

The conference aims to create a forum for the next generation of researchers to present their projects, share their ideas – even those still in progress – and engage in professional dialogue. The working language of the event is English, as international participants are also welcome. Beyond academic exchange, the conference offers an opportunity for early-career scholars to receive feedback on their work and build valuable professional connections.

The full call for papers, including the application requirements and further details, is available at:

Digital humanities has been one of the most dynamically developing fields of recent years, where technological and humanistic approaches can enter into meaningful dialogue. The DH_Budapest_2025 Young Researchers Conference may serve not only as a milestone in that dialogue, but also as a key platform for engaging the next generation of scholars.
